My mom bought me a globe piggy bank from Germany where I was born and tossed in a few German coins. Since then I have always threw in coins I thought were cool, bi-centennial, and foreign. Find something that interests you and dig in a bit. Maybe you purchase a few pieces along the way and maybe it's purely academic!
