I have several IH pennies from this date. The 1 in the date is touching the chin in one but not the other. I know there are several 1888 coins that had the 8/7 but my magnifiers are not large enough to tell.
I'm so new to the collecting world any info would be appreciated. What do you think the grade is?
Side Q - How do I know when to send in a coin to be graded? How do I even do that and if it has errors is it worth it to send in to professional grading? This newbie needs help

At this point in our coining history, the dates were still being hand-punched into new working dies as older ones wore out, and so (especially with the high mintage one cent piece) you will typically find many slightly-varying date positions for each year.

Grades appear to be VG & Fine. Ask here and get honest advice about what coins are worth sending to a TPG. Many collectors, myself included, set a minimum expected value on a coin before they send it in. My minimum expected value is $200 before I send to NGC.

Both NGC and PCGS give very explicit directions on what you need to do to submit coins.

There is only one date position for the 1888/7 variety, not several, and neither of your coins matches this.

Thanks for the info. I did not know that there was only one position. I'll look through the rest of my 1888's. Maybe I'll find the lucky one!

Good luck for sure. This variety is not generally visible to the naked eye, especially in lower grades, and so you will need a reference photo and a 7X magnifier. Best photos are in Rick Snow's "FE and Indian cent Attribution Guide" series that covers this date.
