Hi Everyone! I am new to this forum and to error penny hunting. I found a 1982 penny today but it looks like it has 2 D's for a mintmark. I can't find anything online or in my book for this year. Any help would be appreciated.

to the family!

big question, need bigger pix. The doubled mintmark is really far apart, not normal at all for 1982 RPM nor is it listed as such. My opinion is post mint something, added, damage?

Good luck! When in doubt, ask Coop!

It looks like the marks are incuse, so I'm inclined to think coin took a couple of hits from the same object in the mintmark area, in which case it would be PMD.

I can almost guarantee that if you took a quarter on edge, and lined up the reeding with those marks, they would line up.

I agree. Reeds from an edge of the coin. The incuse marks are damage. What raising is there on the edges is misplaced metal. If there were a zinc coin, we would probably see the zinc there.
