1982 Penny With 2 D's? - Coin Community Forum

I found a 1982 penny today but it looks like it has 2 D's for a mintmark. I can't find anything online or in my book for this year. The doubled mintmark is really far apart, not normal at all for 1982 RPM nor is it listed as such. My opinion is post mint something, added, damage? Good luck! When in doubt, ask Coop! Numisma Pillar of the Community United States 4963 Posts	Posted 01/21/2017 8:08 pm It looks like the marks are incuse, so I'm inclined to think coin took a couple of hits from the same object in the mintmark area, in which case it would be PMD. Report this Post to the Staff

What raising is there on the edges is misplaced metal. If there were a zinc coin, we would probably see the zinc there. Report this Post to the Staff
