Nice gift!

I believe it is 1723 Sixpence from Great Britain.

I don't collect circulating world coins, so I don't want to delve too much into a guess on value. But if you go to sold search of ebay you will find numerous sold examples of varying grades.

I am not an expert on classic English coins, but I can compare a genuine example to yours.

What I see above are dissimilar coins. Below is a known counterfeit. Although your coin does not exactly match it either, it is much closer to the fake than the genuine example.

There may be variations in genuine coins, but I suspect that your gift might not be a genuine coin. Did the giver believe it was genuine?

I also received a letter of authenticity from which the coin was bought from. The coin was bought from a Local auktion house

Post a scan of it (cropped, if necessary).

My apologies. I accidentally switched the captions. I have corrected that and edited my post above.

The genuine coin I posted is a 1723, here is the reverse.

That coin is for sale for £110.

Like I said, I am not an expert on these coins, so perhaps someone more familiar will chime in here.

Nice coin. There is lots of variation among genuine examples of these. Your coin looks completely genuine and is also a very close match to the CoinFactsWiki example :)

This coin has a good story behind it. Look up South Sea Company (SSC) and the "South Sea Bubble." Looks genuine. SSC shillings and six pence are fairly common and can be found in decent circulated grades, but yours is pretty nice. I'm thinking this gift would top $75 - $95 dollars or more in value.
