Thanks, Bill! This is a fairly scarce piece, mine is especially so in NGC AU 53 and top pop. I really need to take another picture with my current lighting setup.

So much space for including great detail on these huge silver coins! Thanks for posting.

Here's a different picture of the 1618 ducaton that shows off some of the remaining luster.

Since we are now into mainland Spain, here are two 1809 (Madrid) Joseph Napoleon crowns (different denominations, same size). Bill

I'm not sure if this counts but here's a West Friesland ducaton, rider or 60 stuivers dated 1742. Inscriptions: Obverse: MO:NO:ARG:CONFOE BELG:PRO:WESTFRI: Reverse: CONCORDIA RESPARVĘ CRESC..T. Certainly a cast fake. I was sure that it's a contemporary fake but now I'm not so sure.

Interesting. I don't think that West Friesland was ever part of the Spanish empire, but I'm not sure.

West Friesland was one of the provinces that rebelled against Spanish rule. It was part of the Dutch Republic from 1581 - 1795.

While the French controlled Madrid and most of Spain, the Junta ruling in Fernando VII's name established Cadiz as the capital and issued coins like this 8 reales.
