Hi, I happen to have a 1951-O Liberty Head 1 dollar gold coin ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_dollar). Does anyone have more information about the coin. It seems that they stopped minting them in 1889. How come I have a 1951 then? Many thanks. I also attach some pictures (however not the best quality)

to the forum! There is no way that this coin could have been made at the US Mint in 1951. Not only had they not struck gold dollars for decades; at that time, the Mint was not striking any gold coins at all. Can you get clearer pictures of both sides of the coin, especially the date? Also, can you weigh it and see if it sticks to a magnet? That being said, I tend to think this is a fake (and the forgers misjudged the date, which has happened in the past). However, I'll let those more knowledgeable than I pass final judgement. I must also stress the importance of not cleaning or scratching it until you know more. That could reduce whatever value it may have.

We need clearer pictures... There IS an 1851-O, but not 1951-O.... It looks OK from what (blurry) images you have

If the date is truly 1951 and not 1851, it is almost certainly a counterfeit.

Indeed, if it is 1951 it is definitely fake...

If it's 1951 then it's fake. If it's 1851 then it's possible it's real since New Orleans did make gold dollars

Here is an 1851-O gold dollar. If it does not match this to a fairly strong degree, the coin is not good.

Although better pictures are definitely needed. Forgetting about the date and just looking at the hairline and slope of nose/forehead this looks fake. Looking at the reverse, the wreath looks way out of spec compared to billjones as well. Again though - better pics are needed. Just my opinion based on really blurry pictures.
