Hello CCF,
I have been a member for a few weeks, but noticed that I hadn't introduced myself yet. My name is Michael, am 28, and I am a veteran expat living in South Korea. I have been collecting coins and bills for about 2.5 years. My first taste of coin collecting was when I went on TDY to Nuremburg and found a coin shop. I went in and spent ~40 Euros on a huge lot of bills and coins. I just could not believe I had my hands on bills from 1912, 1913, WW2, etc.
Then once I got back to Korea, the infatuation took over me and I currently have about about $10,000 worth of bills and coinage from the US, Korea (N & S), Japan, Germany, China (PRC and Taiwan), and a few random European coins from the Wars and early/mid 1800s. If $10,000 seems a bit much over 2.5 years, you are right. I recently went back to the states for Thanksgiving and my wonderful grandfather passed his entire collection down to me. :) He had been collecting since he was a boy (he was born in '43).
I look forward to collecting with all of you and I am glad to be part of CCF. I am also very active with the number one sellers in Seoul, so if you have any question about coins here in Korea, feel free to ask me if you are worried about getting jipped for being a foreigner. I also attend the four main auctions each year here in Seoul (one is coming in March and one in April), so if you would like to see millions of dollars in a day and/or would like to bid yourself, please contact me. :)
