This coin has some areas of question on the MM. It has raised areas and just doesn't seem right. This might be MD,but the areas that are raised just seemed weird to me. Thanks for looking and all advice is greatly appreciated!
I see this quite often on the Zinc cents, sometimes it covers most of the devices, not just the mint mark. I'm not sure what causes it, but I think it is due to the Zinc deteriorating beneath the Copper plating, which allows the plating to collapse leaving a flattened out part of the design. It would not be considered a mint error, it is environmental damage to the coin.
