What would cause this ?is this a deteriorating die or PMD? Just wondering because of the way the E is mashed out so wide .

Looks like a scrape that pushed the metal out and up.

It's pure luck . I have a microscope with a led flashlight hanging on it for lighting and I take the picture through the eyepiece with a cell phone .

 This is coin damage. The plating was scratched off the tops of the devices exposing the zinc. Not a keeper. PSD (Post-Strike-Damage)

Not that it always helps in answering questions about a coin but please include the date of the coin along with your pictures.

What kind of cellphone? My $600 DSLR camera is absolutely terrible at taking coin photos. That was the reason I bought it in the first place! I should have spent the money on a nice DMPL Morgan.

it mostly depends on how steady I can hold it when its zoomed in and I'm trying to focus the microscope and phone at the same time lol
