NCLT, so there shouldn't be any wear, therefore some sort of MS grade always the case.
MS64.

Sending it for TPG not justified on expense grounds.
Slab protection OK, but there are other ways of protecting soft gold coins.

What do you recommend for protecting? Will slabs be okay (the ones I get from my LCS)?

A circular acrylic screw case of appropriate diameter would be perfectly OK for this coin.

Could even cut two pieces of clear acetate plastic sheet from a food container, put the coin between them, and staple in the usual way inside a cardboard Mylar 2x2.

I have used both methods quite successfully for soft gold coins in high MS grades.
