That's odd. When I first looked at this post the second picture had the reverse of a Capped Bust quarter. Anyways pr-64. |

PR64. Reverse looks like it might make Cameo but the obverse contrast I do not think to be sufficient to earn a full Cameo grade.

Paralyse, that was a certified PCGS Cam. Without revealing the grade, can you help me out. I want to either buy this coin or a high grade Capped Bust quarter (AU) picture below. What do you think I should do? Anybody else to. Thanks!!   |

Grats on the Cameo, then. Might just be the pictures being a bit soft on the obverse side. My 1894 half in 64+ has much the same appearance but was not fortunate enough to earn the little CAM. The CBQ looks like a nice mid AU but the Barber proof especially in PR CAM is a much scarcer coin with better upside if you decide to sell in the future. I would choose the Proof over the CBQ unless I already had a Proof Barber quarter and was working on a CBQ set or needed a nice AU small CBQ type coin. Personally I would buy the proof barber. The CBQ looks cleaned, dipped more specifically. Also it is unattractively marked.
The barber is a stunning coin.

The seller took the photo from a slight angle with the bottom of the coin closer to the lens. The angle would hide some of the cameo and marks on the coin. From photo PR64 CAM and in hand the coin should have a stronger cameo.
