Hello all, I´d like to know what is the situation of the world coins market in your countries. I´ll explain it better.

Last year, here in Spain, ebay auctions were very hot. There were many interesting world coins (before 1945), high grades, and many interested buyers.

Prices were really high, I remember a pair of coins of occupied Yugoslavia (1941-1945), sold at 10 times their prices in Krause . It seemed that everything could be sold at very high prices. In fact, I only won a pair of really good auctions with prices not too high.

Now the situation is different. There are very few good coins (before 1945, I insist) and qualities are low , and the good coins are suspicious to be a fake. So the market is boring.

So, what do you think about that? Do you feel the same in your countries?

I can't speak for the ebay market (I never simply "browse" on ebay) but it seems to me that the brick-and-mortar world coin market here in Brisbane, Australia is doing quite well. There's a group starting up a new semi-regular coin show (in addition to the large annual show). I went to the first one back in February, and most of the dealers there were either mainly world coin dealers or had some in stock.

I've been finding some good deals on ebay lately. For instance, I recently picked up an uncirculated 1913 Wurttemberg 3 Mark for $30.

Well, in Norway demand is outstripping supply. Especially the period before 1874 is getting very good prices, and this is bringing interesting coins to the auctions. But I am not frequently on ebay so I do not know if the same holds there.

ebay in America is getting out of control. It seems as if most coins, at least foreign ones (don't often buy US coins anymore, they are really crazy), are being sold at or near book value, often above. I suspect that the State Quarter and Presidential dollar programs in America are fueling the new collectors.

Here's hoping that many of these new people get bored, and decide to sell their collections pushing prices down in a few years time.

Here in Italy the most interest is still in euro from all euro countries, anyway some intrest in world coins is still growing, the difference seems to be from silver coins (quite expensive) and non silver coins (quite accessiblre), I don't know abot ebay I don't browse it but in a Milan coin street market (enough overcrowd) and in some coin fair there is a good offer.
