Hello,

Found this and cannot conclude if it is AU or MS. Also, I can clearly count 5 steps on the reverse.

I moved your thread to the proper section. Please double check that you are posting to the correct section. All Lincoln Cents are considered modern coins. Jefferson nickels are modern coins.

See the big dent between steps on the left side? That gash would prevent this nickel from getting a FS designation from any good TPG.

Thanks @iontyre. So to get a FS designation, the steps must be completely perfect right? That makes it clear. Thank you!

Full steps also differ from year to year. Some years have 5 and some 6,not sure if there are any 7 steps.

regardless of that gash this would not be a full step coin. to get full step designation there must be at least five complete lines of steps. I have indicated in red the areas where there is no step continuity and in blue where it is very weak continuity. its a pretty coin anyway. with a decent strike
