I wouldn't know for sure, but the IN is quite convincing.

I think that this is a case of MD mixed with Die Deterioration. You can see the top of the E of "WE" cut off and also the O of "GOD". You can see a bit of die flow towards the rim too. I'm open to changing my mind with better pics though.

Here is a large image of the 2012-D nickel: http://images.PCGS.com/CoinFacts/26...4608_max.jpgLarge image. You can compare the size with this image to see if your is smaller or large in device size. Here is a side by side and what I found: The biggest clue for Die Deterioration was the 'S' on TRUST. Note how the center loop and the tops towards the rim is altered. The width is pretty much the same size?

Ter, if you're going to discover a new DD, it needs to be pretty clear cut no doubt about it. If I was you, I'd tuck it away for now and see if another emerges. Better luck on the next one.

What if only some of the letters of words appear to be doubled but none of the outer words? On my 2012 D Jefferson nickel, "Monticello" and "Five Cents," have doubling on all the letters of those words, while none of the other words do.

I have a 2012 DDO. THE 1 in the 2012 is clearly doubled. I just found it today. I'm brand new at coin collecting and am still learning the process.

to CCF. Please start your own thread. One full coin pic of the obverse and one full coin pic of the reveres as well as one or two close ups where and when needed. John1

This is an older thread. But the moving towards the rim looks like DDD. That would make the devices taller and not wider. But the DDOs are on the central areas, with the single squeeze dies. So the nose area on the right is where DDOs are found on the with these dies.
