To me it looks like someone drilled a hole in one coin and then plugged it with a portion of another cent. Other than that I don't know.

My, my, don't time fly when you're having fun! What a waste, just to say you could...at least try to make a "real" error like a clashed die or something that may even fool us! What was the old saying, , oh ya, " idle hands are the devil's workshop" , boy how true!

to the forum! It could have been a magician's trick coin. Like when they make a straw pass through a coin. It is not a mint error. It was a woody too!

cwb, I'll bet it was a trick coin. If you would rotate that plug @180°, it becomes an exact match Pacun, to the forum! You ought to see if tat plug will come out an reorient it correctly. Then fool your friends!

Use it for the "Pass the straw through the coin" trick.

It looks better but you can still tell it has been damaged. Maybe try to find some filler that matches the color of the rest of the coin. Fill the circular crack with it and try to hand tool the design back to original. It will never be mint state again, but maybe you can hide it good enough that no one will notice.

I used a program to flip and rotate the front image, but curious enough, the back side only needed some rotation. No flip. I am not insisting this is an error coin, it just seems odd.

That's what I thought the other day, would match if rotated. Doesn't appear to be an exact match, not the drilled out portion. That would sure take a lot of work to do that, it must have been some kind of trick coin. How hard was it to rotate? Does it fit really snug or fairly loose. That may indicate its use in a magic act. It is a very unique find.
