Man I hope this is a legitimate error.

Based on my findings I believe this could be a retained lamination crack.

Even if its just another PMD- looks pretty awesome...

Sorry, Gula. It looks like PMD to me. A scratch or gouge of some sort. I'd guess starting at the rim and dragging through his cheek -- notice the raised material there where the scratch stopped. If you want an example of a lamination error, I posted a 1964D cent with one in the error and variety section. It's characterized by flaking, and would appear like a flake of goldfish food on the surface of the coin.

Yes, I agree, it's a big scratch. PMD. When you see a lamination error you'll instantly know the difference.

It is PSD. Note how only the highest part of the coin are affected. If it were a lamination, then a whole are might be affected in a straight line highs and lows of the coin.
