I read that this was from an overpolished die. Are these considered errors? Common enough to spend?

These are considered errors, and this one you should keep. The only times you should spend these is if the fg is visible or slightly visible.

Some grading companies used to grade these. But all of a sudden quit doing so. They may have considered the cause and realized it was not an omission of the letters, but that they were polished off the die. (die abrasion) When you look at the columns you will see they are distorted and smaller in size than normal because of the over polishing of the dies. I don't collect these, but so do.
Rest in Peace

Always fun to find those no FG. A set of those would be neat with different dates.

Nice find. Others to watch out for 1989 cent, 1990-D nickel, 1988 nickel, and 1966, 1973, 1982, 1972-D halves. It's even better to find missing mintmarks, like the 1982 dime and the 1989 quarter. Those are the business strikes released for circulation.

Thanks for the replies. I'll hold onto it. Coop, I think it has a little lamination going on as well.

I agree with the lamination
It peel off a bit already. They flow in a straight line.
