This one was a freebee.

It is also my 1st LMC proof, if it is one, so I figured I would see what it grades.

I believe it is a proof as the field looks mirrored and it looks like one of the best strikes I have ever seen on an LMC.

There does appear to be a haze that is more prominent on the pictures than in hand.

Looks proof but has the dreaded haze on it.

That haziness can't be removed and is usually considered very detrimental to the value of a proof Lincoln. So that's the reason it was properly given a "grade" of impaired proof.

Also, this has some rather large scratches and hits that would take it down to a PF-61, or 62, even if it didn't have the haze.

It's a great cent to learn from and to be used as a comparison. You want to avoid those coins with such big marks, as well as (just about) any Proof Lincoln with that haze.

Normal haze that develops on these, it's not impaired.

Thanks again guys.

Not too upset about haze as coin didn't cost anything. I will eventually get a much better example though.

It's not so bad, does it show any color when you angle it? That toning around the rim looks like it might have some color with the right light and angle.

I'd take it over one with a big thumb print! LOL I bet it looks better in hand and, ultimately, that's the grade YOU have to use. Proofs are tough to grade with pictures! I might pop it higher in hand.

The only part that look like it could have some light toning is on the reverse in between the you of United and the O of One. looks a little pinkish.

Definitely does. The haze is really light on just the edges and the rest pops in hand.

I think I'm gonna have to look for some proof sets to add to my collection. Maybe start with the 2009 Proof set for the LMC's that year.
