I bought this for $40 including shipping. The listing had very blurry photos and the seller described it as looking uncirculated, inside a capsule. I took it out of the capsule, and its in gorgeous condition, lots of lustre, really shiny (photo doesn't show shine up very well). What grade do you think? Is it MS? I'm comparing it side by side with my PCGS 1884 - O which is graded MS63 and it looks very similar except this one has more surface scratching and toning around the rim. Many thanks in advance. I would say MS-62 or 63. The surfaces look cloudy which can knock down the grade a point or two even when there are few marks. The strike is also rather flat. Overall I'd say MS-62 if you sent it in for grading, which might not be worth it.

Appears mint state. The high points have had some rub, not from circulation, but probably from being in a holder that allowed the coin to move around. Technically, using on the surface marks as the grading priority I'd give it a 63. Eye Appeal wise, it looses a little bit because of those top design element detail rubs and the background (field)surfaces which appear to be fairly cloudy. Overall, I'd give it a 62 market grade and not worth the cost of TPG. Even with all that, though, I like it with that touch of peripheral golden tone which I'm always a sucker for.

It looks like a mint state Morgan with typical bag rub. I like MS62 for it as well.

probably improperly stored which is causing the cloudiness overall. although they are very light the shotgun hits across the cheek and under the nose are in a critical location for grading and may affect grade. due to both of these issues I'm at a net MS62

Thanks everyone.
I think I'm just going to put it in a capsule myself, instead of sending it off to be graded, it probably wouldn't be worth it. Happy with MS62-63, nice little addition to my collection :)
