I've seen so many counterfeit Indian Head cents that I've become paranoid about the series. So, I clearly need to keep learning!

What about this 1909? Is it genuine? If so, what grade would you assign?

Thanks!

Real & VG10. Not sure what the substance is on obverse.

I agree with dd27, coins are getting made counterfeit every day and, it doesn't make any difference if it's a high priced coin or not.

But, this one looks ok to me and I'd say F-15
Rest in Peace

I'd let it rest in some acetone for a bit. Nice overall appearance for this one with a stronger reverse. F12.

Thanks y'all! :O)

Wow, a genuine IHC!

It was a in a lot of 500 LWCs I bought awhile ago.

Thanks BH1964 - acetone bath coming up! ;-) ... I think it's tape residue on the obverse, which acetone might remove. I'll follow BadThad's polarity ladder and soak in distilled water first, followed by the acetone for 20 minutes or so.

Genuine, VG-08 and nice for the grade.

If this were a 1909-S Indian, the third party graders would call it "Fine." That is called grade-flatiron.

Right on T-BOP, I agree... started to say VG-10 or F-12 but got carried away until I looked up my Red Book..
