Korean bill collectors rejoice! The Bank of Korea has made the final decision on the 2000 Won Commemorative Banknote and its coming soon!

Bank-Of-Korea-Announces-First-Ever-Commemorative-Banknote!

The Bank of Korea announced in the February 2017 Coinclub Members Magazine that they have made the final decisions on the commemorative bill. As seen in the pictures it is pretty beautiful. It is commemorating the 2018 PyeoNGChang Olympics and is 140mm x 75mm. Its denomination is 2000 Won and has nine security features. This commemorative bill was first announced at the 31st Hwadong Auction here in Seoul last November.

They Bank of Korea stated they will be printing a maximum of 2.8 million bills, but will take requests from the PyeoNGChang Winter Olympic Board Committee into consideration for the actual amount printed. The bills are set to come out here in Korea in the second half of this year.

Unfortunately no price has been released yet, so it is going to be hard to tell how expensive this is going to be. Also, this is the first ever official commemorative note for the Republic of Korea and considering they are planning on making so many, I don't think this is going to be insanely priced.

When these come out I will repost a new thread with instructions on how to get them (where/how much/max per person/etc), but only after I buy as many as I can!!

Don't buy too many of them. A lot of collectors are not happy with the concept of national currencies turning into the equivalent of the Marshall Islands Postal Stamp tributes to Princess Diana, or the John Wayne Collectible Wall Plate.

Eh? How could collectors not be happy? The 2000 won bill doesn't exist yet here, so I think it would be pretty awesome if they arent too expensive.
