As little as I thought I knew about currency, it seems I know less.

I'm going to go ahead and put pics of two bills here because I would hate it if I had something unusual and never knew it.

Do any of you have a reliable link that would give me a good rundown to understand the collection of currency, particularly international?

I am underequipped to be posting in this category. I have bills I'm curious about, but Google is leaving me with more questions...

Thanks!

It may take a little while but someone should be able to help you out with these. Lots of good knowledge here.

I don't think there is any one link that will solve the riddle of collecting foreign currency, but a good start is reading through existing posts here at CCF.

The Lao bill is a One Kip note from their 1957 series of currency. Yours is in fairly nice condition and is worth about $5.

The Cambodian note is a One Rial note from their 1959-1975 issues, it's worth about 15 cents in nice condition, yours is dirty and essentially of no value.

Go to realbanknotes.com, they have a good forum for member discussions, and an online catalog of the world's banknotes, with images. You can find what you may have and check it out.

Welcome to the hobby ! It's a lot of fun, and you can collect at any level you like, and any area you like. Lots of folks collect their 'heritage' country, others collect notes with birds or ships on them, others collect a continent, some collect 'fivers' only, that kind of thing. Lots of room for a Newbie.

Beautiful. Surely I can use that to identify if some of mine have value. Then, I can just post about the ones that confuse me. Pretty sure y'all don't want to see like 50 worthless bills.

I never thought I had an interest in this currency. If I stumbled across some for very little $, I'd just buy it and throw it in a box.

Now, I'm seeing some beauty and it gives me a strange feeling of connect with other times and places. I didn't expect this, and I hope to enjoy it long term.

Now, to just sort and catalog and decide how to proceed.

Thanks!

Well sometimes the worth of a banknote as currency is different to its worth as a collectable item.
