That's enough! I'm actually done trying to sell on ebay. How come I say, only will ship to buyer in US, and the bids are from Russia?!

Greedy company. growth isn't happening so they're jacking the rates.

Another option might come along, bitcoin is quite interesting, extremely small charge to send money and it's actually levelling out somewhat. But there's no buyer protection of any sort. I'd like to see a company offer what PayPal does but charge 2%

Hop this doesn't effect people here

So this seems to only effect selling to buyers outside the US. If you state "No Int'l buyers" and they bid through a bug/loophole anyway, you can easily cancel the transaction.

I wonder if removing Purchase/Seller Protection for "Financial products or investments of any kind." affects collectible coins and currency as well.

I would imagine "financial product or investments..." relates directly to coins and notes, etc.

I think it was about a year back that they came out with similar changes for Canada based sellers. Higher rates for going to the US and highest rates for international. Around the time the Canada/US exchange rate dropped roughly the same percentage the US rate increased. Funnily enough, when the Canadian dollar had previously shot up past parity I don't remember the rates having been reduced....

i think it has a lot to do with all the fake bullion being sold on ebay. someone has to pay the buyers back, when the seller disappears.

Oh, someone is finally getting a hit from all those fakes on ebay.
However, increasing fees will do nothing to remedy this problem.

Just finished 5 Paypal cases for Perth Mint counterfeit bars. Four 20 gram bars and a 10 gram bar. The bars originally tested through the mint cards tested fine, but later failed when I sold them to a gold wholesaler. 4 of 5 cases were decided in my favor. In 1 case they said it was an investment and not covered by Paypal. The strange part was that I bought 3 20 bars separately from the same seller, about the same price, paid through Paypal, but only 2 were decided in my favor and the 3rd was not. Also the other 2 Perth bars were also covered. Strange but true. So I am trying to collect directly from the seller rather than go to the authorities and charge him with fraud. The otjer two sellers were gone so after a month Paypal just paid me and I still have the bars.
