I was bidding on a Walking Liberty the bidding was at $9.55 with about 10 seconds to go. I put in a bid at about 7 seconds to go of $10.06 as a 50 cent bid was the minium increase. I won the item but was charged $10.55. Another bidder did bid at $10.05. It appears that my bid was rounded up to the next increment. Has there been a change in ebay policy that will round up the bid?

ebay's "Bidding Increments" page says this:

Quote:
Can I be outbid by less than a full increment?

You can be outbid by less than a full increment. The winning bid needs only to be higher than the next highest maximum bid by one cent.

It seems that your high bid of $10.06 should have been the winning bid and should not have been raised. The proxy bidding software should not bid anything above your set maximum.

Contact ebay and ask them to explain it. It would be fun to listen to their explanation!

Strange, you should have won at 10.06 - like the previous poster stated, give them a call - look at the auction, click on "bids" and see what that states. Could you have hit the wrong keys?

Or sales tax, or a 50 cent shipping fee.

That was my first thought. If you didn't bid $10.55 or more, $10.06 should have won.

I must of hit the wrong number, but I can not find what my max bid was. In the past if I won an item under my max bid, ebay would send an email noting the amount under my max bid.

I found my max bid and it was $10.55. I am not sure what happened as I know that I did not enter $10.55. Maybe I hit one of the fixed bidding buttons while scrolling as I was on my I phone. The shipping fees were an additional $2.49 and no tax. I got to quit using my phone for bidding. Thanks for the comments.
