maybe it was gold plated

You can use the CCF Free Image Optimizer to eliminate the blank space around your coin

to the family!
On just one side? Your obverse pic seems normal. What you have is a novelty coin, no telling by who or for want purpose. Sometimes an advertising gimmick or just coated because they wanted to?

It's hard to tell from the pics but it could also be yellow toning on the reverse.

Gold plated. It was in something, so only the back got plated.

I also have the coin described above. It is colored on both sides of the coin not just one side. I would like to find out the deal on this coin too....

It doesn't shine like gold. I think your coin has environmental toning.

If by "environmental toning" you mean it was found underground and changed by natural circumstances or something then you are not familiar with this coin. It is not even perceived as a "Gold Coin", It may be plated with something but I suppose that's why we're trying to see if anyone is knowledgeable about this coin....Thanks
