Maybe you should continue using all of your existing threads instead of creating new one. Depends which Quarter book is involved here. If you need any silver ones in there, my guess is like 500000 rolls.

To start the book you only need one roll (or better yet, one quarter). To fill the book up depends on the book and what years it covers. If the book is for the Statehood Quarters (1999- 2009) or the America the Beautifule Quarters (2010-date), you could go along way to filling the book up by picking up a box of quarters (50 rolls) at the bank and searching those. You should also find a lot of pre-1999 in the box but not much prior to 1965 which are silver.

As many as it takes.

The truth is there is no one answer because there are no guarantees you will always find what you are looking for. Also, it does depend on what set your are building. Statehood and ATB set will be easier to fill than the original Washington quarter run (1932-1998). I also think Statehood will be easier than ATB, just based on what I see circulating.

It all depends on which quarter book you bought . Don't even bother with 1932-1964 ,unless you want to search
500,000 rolls .As coin197 says . your best bet is modern quarters ,State, state parks ,etc . Buy from your bank as much as you can carry out.

I started my Quarter collection about 1958 and still don't have the 32-S. I would definitely say that it's to late to start a book that dates to 1932 by roll searching. I have recently completed two State Quarter books, but I needed help from a relative that lives on the west coast to complete them, since I live in Ohio. It was challenging, but have fun!!

Which quarter book?

Silver quarters, thousands of boxes needed, not realistic to find all of them roll hunting.

State Quarters, you can get most of them in 2-3 boxes. The lower mintage ones like the territory quarters may require several more additional boxes.

ATB Quarters, also require several boxes due to the low mintage early releases. I have searched through $1500 and still have 11 holes.
