Hope you enjoy the presentation. It will be receiving light conservation when I get it from seller. I don't think seller quite appreciated what they had, since it sold for a fraction of its value, and as a German States collector, it fits right in with my German States coins and other German medals. Any errors are my own.

Thanks for looking & have a great evening!

Very cool. Is this a famous engraver?

I buy and sell a lot of medals and I hardly ever pay attention to foreign exonumia. When I end up selling foreign stuff, it always excedes my expectations.

A piece like this though, with it being so old, I would have done my research!

Christian Karl Pfeuffer was one of a great many decently skilled engravers to come out of Germany in the mid 19th c, many had training in France or Russia, but probably the most well known was Daniel Friedrich Loos (who signed his work D. F. Loos or just Loos.) Medals were issued for pretty much everything, from local "county fair" type contests to city and royal awards to military honors. Pretty far from "Famous", though, in any sense of the word, unlike Roty or Wyon or St-Gaudens who could justly be considered "famous."
