CoinWorld - After seven years of development and study, an American palladium bullion coin may finally be struck before the end of calendar year 2017. The coin has been a long time coming. It was authorized under provisions of the American Eagle Palladium Bullion Coin Act of 2010, which calls for production of a 1-ounce palladium coin with a $25 face value. The coin would be an extension of the American Eagle bullion coin program. Currently, development of a palladium bullion coin is progressing well enough to create a strong likelihood that collectors and investors will be able to purchase struck coins before the end of 2017, according to Mint sources. I'd like to see rhodium, iridium, and (especially) rhenium coins soon after the palladium. :)
1/10 oz sizes would be adequate -- no need to waste a lot of money on full 1-oz sizes.

It would indeed be kind of interesting. But yeah, I wouldn't likely be adding any 1-oz'ers to the bullion stack.
I wonder what the market really is for something like this? I guess they've done their research otherwise it wouldn't have gotten this far.

If the specified high-relief design is well executed on the coin, I'd be inclined to pick up one.
I truly appreciate classic designs on coins.

With palladium currently trading at ~$785 compared to gold's ~$1260 and platinum's ~$1040, palladium is more affordable (but not by a whole lot). I prefer the white metals so I'll be looking forward to this. The Mint surprised us with the "P" mint mark on this year's penny. They could well surprise us with a Palladium Eagle this year as well.
I'm disappointed, though, that "E Pluribus Unum" is not in the legislated design. Too many mottos?

@CelticKnot, I remember reading something to the effect that there was a feasibility research conducted that stated their would likely not be enough interest to support a bullion program, but collector versions could sustain a profit. Can't tell you where I read that, but that was the first thing that popped into my head when I read this article.

Absolutely love the ancient Greek neo classic style. Adolph Weinman was probably the best modern exponent of this art form on medals and coins, the best known of his works is the Liberty Walking Half.
