Well, we have two winters, er, I mean winners! Most of your guesses made me feel so young and prittee! Thanks! Maybe someone used logic to solve?...?...? (Wife used to do tons of logic puzzles) Bud250r, you are the first to win! USMC is the branch of service I was I in. The Canadians are yours. Sorry nfine, you fell into my trap! ...was only in one branch! Dd27, congrats! You won the nickel folder! See you got the point that a single guess would increase your chances of winning the easiest of the two questions. MY "LOGIC" ?: The answer USMC relates to the hint @ "coming back around...moral compass", hence "Semper Fidelis" means always faithful! 1951 was the ending years of the Truman Presidency, hence the last hint @ presidential numismatic phrase, " The buck stops here.". Now go back and figure the third out...slackers! Oh, dd27 and Bud250r, PM me your mailing addresses.

I'm pretty sure I know your birthday. I'll just have to wait on all the new answers until my turn rolls around again..

Well, I waited too long on the other questions. Re-re-rereading the story isn't making anything new appear...

Good golly Miss Molly! I'm still in shock that I won because I thought I had worked out the dates and that 1953 was the correct answer. But since another member had already guessed that year, and 1952 was taken, I figured I would take a stab and guess 1951.
I plan to give the awesome set of nickels to the Charlotte Coin Club Young Numismatists Program.
A huge THANK YOU to Crazyb0 for his gracious generosity and crafty craziness. ;^]
And a tip of the hat in your direction sir, out of gratitude and high respect for your service to our nation in the U.S. Marine Corps.

P.S. Was it President Nixon's signature on your post-discharge Thank You letter

Have been unable to wheedle an answer out of you elsewhere. I think that your birthday must have something to do with the phrase, "circles being round had no upside down" so I'm guessing the Olympics: February 9th is the start of the next ones.

dd27: package set to go out in mail tomorrow. Thank you Mark for your generosity to give this nickel set to a Youth coin club, exactly the gifting I was hoping for. And yes indeed it was Tricky Dick's signature, got out 23 Aug 1974 after spending 3 1/2 years at Cherry Point...Nixon resigned in June or July, can't remember which one and Ford became the President.

Having never served, I try to make it a point to thank those who have. Thank you Crazyb0 for your service. Citizens like you are essential to the well-being of us all and the freedoms we enjoy. Also, thanks for the contest! I have a feeling though that my only guess was incorrect...

Well thank you Spruett001. A sincere thank you means a lot. Too many today flippantly tell vets the "obligatory" thanks, seems just because its the "in" thing...that's like getting a limp handshake, meaningless. The Viet Nam era vets were really treated poor, no parades, spit on, called all sorts of really ugly things. So yea, an appreciative word of thanks means the world to us. At least the vets today are somewhat recognized, but it seems a lot of folks don't realize if we don't protect our freedoms now, tomorrow they'll be wondering where they went! I only hope and pray we aren't too far gone now, too much has been idly given away. Well, night all, still the one prize left, don't know how many have picked up on the hint given? Spence, at least you were thinking, hope you didn't hurt yourself!
