It's a very poor fake. The word "LIBERTY" appears above the head of Ms. Liberty on the real coin. Here is a genunine example.

Not a chance these are genuine.
Note seller has four LEFT, meaning he has managed to unload at least one and probably more of these counterfeits.
I love the "make offer", I would suppose they accept any offer over $2 (their cost).

You notice the word LIBERTY is missing on the obverse?

A look at ANY U.S. illustrated coin catalog for comparison pictures will reveal op's coin as fake. This example probably pressure cast.
The seller is either playing innocent with knowingly trying to sell fake coins, or perhaps has no idea that it is fake.
I would offer him a dollar for it, so that I could add it to my 'black' collection. It probably cost that much to make.

The sad thing is that he had 7 of them for sale. I sent him a text yesterday saying that they were fakes and he acted like he was sincerely concerned and didn't know anything, but now I see he hasn't taken his ad down and is trying to scam people.

No Liberty on obverse, struck in a collar. It might be some kind of silver round. Problem is it looks worn, like it was meant to deceive.

How could the seller even expect to pass those off as genuine? All you need to do is compare it to a picture of a real 1799 dollar and you will see the major discrepancies.

This fake sparks a thought .... Does LIBERTY even exist in China?

As some have suggested, this might be a silver round that has been "circulated" to fool the uninformed. There are silver rounds out there with the designs of classic coins on them.

I have seen rounds that look like that, but they had the weight and fineness markings on the reverse. This one doesn't. But it does look the word COPY may have been removed down by the last A in AMERICA.
