NTC is notorious for "overgrading" coins.

Thanks Mark, figured that. Only reason I got this, it was a boo-boo on my part. I was bidding in an auction on some other items when I got notice I had won this. Apparently I had accidentally hit the bid button when looking through items days before. Cost $45, a bit steep, fortunately lost other two bids and items I'd consigned sold for just @ a wash, ended up only $7 out, so I'm OK!

Don't give any coin in a Numistrust holder even a second glance - one of the all-time worst TPG companies.

Thanks frog, I normally don't even go for slabs, mostly can't afford it, just got stuck with this one. Think I'll crack the case on this one, have a good spot for it.

I call 'em "Not This Coin" as in there is a '23 Peace dollar that is MS65, but "not this coin".

Maybe dip it? What do you have to lose?

Mark, its not the coloring, thats my lighting, working on a HD monitor off my screwed VGA only laptop, everything stretched and false colors. Problem is the graininess all over, poor, weak strike. Don't think dip will smooth that out unfortunately, is just a bad coin that plastic optics helped some. Funny thing is, very few bag marks, scope in @ the rays and rim areas, nasty.

Like I said above, only cost $7, less than Melt!

Ouch. I thought it looked a little messy in the holder, but you're right in saying it somehow looks worse out of it! If it's ebay, you can retract bids.. though they keep track of retractions.

Yeah, I saw the bad graininess of the surfaces - I just thought if you brighten up the coin it may then detract from that graininess. Best of luck.
