CoinFacts shows that the last three listed aucttons all realized $75-145 for that year and mint. I'm surprised, but then there are none PCGS certified in MS67 or higher....

Those early Ikes are hard to find in the higher MS grades and when you do find them, you generally have to shell out some bucks. According to NumisMedia, fair market value on the 1971-P Ike is: MS62 $3.60, MS63 $9.60, MS64 $26.25, MS65 $100.00, and MS66 $970.00. So, nothing known higher than MS66.

Those dollars were stored in canvas sacks, 1000 a bag. The bags got moved around a lot. Therefore, higher grade Ikes are a bit hard to find.

The '71 Ikes also were very poorly made with worn tired dies. Strikes were weak and planchet marking was not obliterated the strike. Most have poor surfaces and were unattractive even before they got marked up in the bag.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

And they were not in the 1971 mint sets so there was no chance of nice ones getting preserved that way.
