I have what looks to be a very unique 1887 Liberty nickel. It has the letters O S R R on the front and what appears to be O S O 7 on the reverse side. I have shown it to a couple coin dealers and they say they have never seen one like this. Could this be a one of a kind coin?

You are correct; it may be a one of a kind coin. However, it didn't come from the mint like that. At some time in this coins life, someone punched those letters into the obverse and reverse of the coin. By doing that it has devalued the coin, but makes a great conversation piece.
Rest in Peace

It may have something to do w/ railroading. The O S R R may be the Ohio Southern Railroad, The O S O 7 may indicate a route 07 or a specific engine# 07. Why its stamped ? Is it holed? May have been a jewelry piece or mounted/hung as a year of origin? Another railroad may be the Oklahoma Southern, (San Antonio),? If any railroad buffs on here?

Looks like it could be a counterstamp from the Ohio Southern Rail Road that operated in the 1880s and later. It connected with Lima Ohio where they made steam engines. This could be a wood or coal token used to track commodity usage among various depots. Engineers would pass tokens to wayside depots for cords of wood consumed allowing the depot master to be reimbursed from central payroll. It could also be a tool check of of some sort.
