This was my first ebay purchase in december. May be one of those 'too good to be true'? Diameter 25-26mm; weight 5.5g; thickness, visibly less than my 1758 shilling (photos in a post from yesterday). It has a milled edge ////
Normal, variant or forgery? If fake, contemporary or recent?

I assume that the ring stain on the reverse is due to long-term proximity to a smaller coin? Diameter of stain is 21 mm - a sixpence, maybe?

Thanks!

Well, it's normal weight is 6g, so I believe 5.5g is a acceptable weight.
Looks like it's the first bust.

Looks genuine to me. I imagine these coins varied a bit in weight as the Mint was desperately trying to mint large numbers of new coins at the time to replace the last of the old hammered ones.
