" There are many exonumia collectors, including some serious authors, who claim that, once a coin is stamped, it becomes a token and is no longer a coin, per se. IMHO, a stamped coin is still a coin and the stamping does not change the fact that it's still legal tender." ExoGuy in another topic

I think that this piece , a 50 cents Colombian 1958-1966 coin , originally served as a purpose to something ... maybe a token ( we call a TOKEN in Spanish UNA FICHA ) , some kind of a tool check. To ID somebody .or was only a guy without much work and a lot of time that did this just to waste time ? .. What do you think ?...

What I have to tell you is that In the city of Colombia S.A. where this piece was found ( Cali ) there is a well-known sport stadium called PANAMERICANO that was inaugurated precisely for the PANAMERICAN games that took place in Cali in 1971 ( sometimes this place has served as a big concert location ) .

Donīt you agree that this " neboulus counterstamp maverick piece " tries to say something to you ? Do you have something to say to the piece ?

Hi from "up north" Lucho70.

I strongly suspect that your piece was a made-to-be-worn souvenir from the 1979 Pan-American games. The misaligned letters suggest that individual letter punches were used. The hole appears to have been machine-made.

Perhaps, this piece and others were sold by a street vendor?

Check this out, regarding the 1979 games ...

Hi from " down south " ExoGuy
(The Pan American games were in San Juan de Puerto Rico not in Cali ). I agree with you .Maybe the guy that did the piece was trying to imitate some kind of sport medal of an event in Cali in that year of 1979 ,or he was at that time in Puerto Rico as sportsman or as a visitor and made it to give it to a relative or a friend as a souvenir gift .And yes ,it was part of a big bunch of coins, tokens, medals and other " things " in a trade with a street vendor in the city of Cali 2 days ago. Here are some of them; you can see a very nice 1 cent Colombian coin, a rare 5 pesos P/M Colombian coin of 1912 ,a colombian token and some " things" I donīt finish to ID

The Rutherford B. Hayes token is, I believe, from the 1960-70-s. These were at that time promotional advertising items, wherein a customer could, given enough purchases, complete a set of presidents.

Quite an assortment you got there, Lucho.
