I have been noticing this week the store has been getting original shrink wrapped rolls of State Quarters. The other day I had all NY quarters. Today they put in my till a roll of DE and PA quarters, both from the Denver Mint. The PA roll had a written sticker on it noting what they were. Looks like a collector cashed them in at the bank my store uses.

Pretty fun to see those, I'll bet. Since they are shrink wrapped, are they all shiny and new?

I cashed in all my sets a while back at a coin star,
just keeping 1 proof set and 1 silver proof set.

Looks like I wasn't the only one.

Very shiny indeed! It was kinda fun but kinda sad opening them up. I opened both rolls of those last night.

Collector probably put them away back when they came out. After all these year he finds they have a RETAIL value of about $11.50 a roll and wholesale is still $10. After holding them this long he would need to get at least $16 just to break even with inflation. SO they gave up and are cutting their losses.

I opened a roll of Maryland quarters and the end coins had a nasty yellow tone. Blah!

My local coin store gives them out in change, along with prez and sac dollars. They aren't worth any more than face now.
I was given a 1999 P set as change the other day and promptly broke it open and spent it.
I even spend clad Ikes if I get them and they aren't a rare variety.
