Would appreciate your thoughts on grade and problems. Thanks! Could that be a die crack going from the eagle's tail through the top of the "A" to the rim? If so, that's interesting.
I took a closer look and I'm reasonably sure that's a die crack, it appears to cut across part of the tail feathers too. Cool!

Yup, the copper nickel alloy did a number on the dies. Looks like a pretty good strike in spite of the failing die.

The color and the surfaces look "off" to me. It looks like there is some micro porosity under the eagle and around the date which shouldn't be there given the amount of detail on this coin.

I am looking at the same pictures that you are. Considering buying this. Devices look sharp but the field surfaces look pretty nicked. Doesn't help that the seller is shining a pretty strong light on it.

The surfaces don't look right. It could be the lighting, but I am guessing this coin has been cleaned or whizzed. Its obvious the coin is in a TPG holder. What do they say? |

If it is not cleaned or whizzed, AU55, but it may receive a details grade. Looking at the photo I'm just not sure.

the color on this coin is not natural. there is slight wear on the beak, neck, breast and highest point on the talon. AU58 details.

You guys are sharp! I could see some slight wear on the eagle's breast, but wasn't able to see any evidence of whizzing. I am considering buying this coin because I like it a lot in spite of its problems. Now onto figuring out whether I can get it at the right price. But for the whizzing, I think it is AU58 with a hammer strike compared to most FECs I have looked at in this grade. It's also got tons of eye appeal imho. I would be a buyer at $200. Probably can't buy it for that.
