Poll Question
ok, so I was fumbling around the net again and came across a couple of examples of
ANA membership medals. I do not know if they are offered today to individuals with their names inscribed, but apparently they were quite the rage about 60-80 years ago. here is one example from 1942, kinda weird to think about as there was a world war raging at the time... they had the date the member got it, his membership number and his/her name. I am pretty sure they were business strikes, the added on engraving appears to much more clear...

these have had many designs over the years. these particular examples were 1 oz, 90% gold content, similar to modern gold eagles. here is another that was on
ebay recently...

http://www.coinworld.com/news/us-co...ion.all.htmlkeep in mind that there are several
ANA medal types... anniversary rounds, membership rounds, etc.
and now, the one that confuses me most of all... the... ahh... panda... brown bear... Hollywood... etc...
http://www.coinworld.com/news/world...money.2.htmlnote: while the earlier anniversary and member medals appear to be business strike, these
ANA pandas look to be proof...
any of you
ANA members out there who have these that wish to show them? or any thought about them? can you even get a membership medal nowadays? it seems to me that most of the member medals were kept by the member until they died, then their heirs sold them.
well, just thought I would bring it up... mike
uhh... for some reason I cannot post unless I post some kind of "poll answers". ? huh is this? so if you see something silly or out of character here, I am just trying to get the topic posted. it also appears that the first link will not post because it from another coin community website discussion... just google "
ANA membership medals", then click on "
ANA gold membership metals" to see it... mike
