Here's my 1929-D Walker that I mentioned in an earlier post. I bought it in a Stack's auction; they graded it as AU-50. After receiving it I thought AU was a tad optimistic. I submitted it to PCGS and was surprised that they only gave it a VF-30. There are some long hairlines in the right obverse field which probably brought the grade down a bit, but VF-30 seems a bit harsh. The hairlines are exaggerated in my photo; in-hand they are quite faint.

So, what's the consensus? Is VF-30 a fair grade?

I find the entire front leg and the crossing arm both quite worn. I'm agreeing with VF-30.

I don't think 30 is fair.

I would give it a 40

I went home last night and read thru my grading book. As '50cents' says, 30 is quite low. I'll move up to 40.
