Have heard rumours about this 25 cents being released within the next couple of weeks. Does anyone have any info/photos? I have heard about about 5 packs and rolls but can not find anything more about them.

I have no info but would be VERY surprised if something isn't released. Star Trek but no Stanley cup? I think not.

No authorization for circulation NHL commemorative coinage in the Canada Gazette that I can find.
That would make it either NCLT or a commissioned coin to be sold through NHL stores.

Circulation quarter. Not NCLT.
Special wrap rolls are already available from a dealer.
See my earlier thread linked above.

I didn't see any info on coins in the link. Did I over look it?

No mention of a circulation coin on that link that I could see. If rolls are already available from a dealer, why are these 25c unknown

Clearly, I was not clear. The 'link' I referred to was the link above...to the thread I posted a few days ago...not the link to the NHL website in that thread. The url in that thread is to the Stanley Cup celebration events in Ottawa in a couple of weeks, where I expect the coin will be unveiled to the public. The dealer is pre-selling the rolls on-line to VIP members and there is no picture of the coin. Here's another link to the celebration events. There is no mention of a coin here either https://www.ottawatourism.ca/ottawa...-15-18-2017/ but if I were to take a guess, I'd say the coin will surface at the March 18th ground breaking ceremony for the monument to be built on Sparks Street. Let's hope the coin design is significantly better looking than that monument. Added: rethinking - they might actually release the coin March 15th at the Gala (as happened at the Star Trek gala last year) to take advantage of photo ops with NHL alumni. I'd also be surprised if they don't release an NCLT coin or two. As for 100th anniversaries; I think everyone expects the see a few TML coins issued this year ala the Habs in 2009.

Thanks for the clarification CC. That the authorization for these quarters by the Governor in Council doesn't appear in the Canada Gazette is a first. (Otherwise RCM doesn't have authority to issue circulation coin.) This dealer by chance doesn't happen to be one and the same who is known to frequently commission NCLT? As opposed to silver $20 NCLT, why not cupronickel 25c?

No it's not Bromberg, it's Colonial Acres.
Assuming the usual 2x FV, $24.95 per roll should be the issue price though they are $22.95 with the VIP discount.

Thanks. I also don't recall any dealer ever preselling circulation coin rolls prior to its officially announced release by RCM. And don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not suggesting this wouldn't be a worthy commemorative. Just too bad 2017 is the year, it deserves a tooonie or loonie commemorative. Will be interesting to see what develops.

I don't think circulation coins can be commissioned by private companies/dealers.

That's right, it couldn't. But 25c can be issued as NCLT and has been numerous times in the past. And we know that NCLT has been be commissioned in the last as well, it's not a new thing. However if the rolls are selling for $22.95, that's not much over face value. A wait and see game....

25 cent coins can certainly be issued as NCLT, but to my knowledge, NCLT coins are not sold in rolls. (With the exception of buillion and 50 cent coins, which were circulation coins in the past. Special wrap rolls such as farewell to the penny have been issued as well, but the actual coins were circulation strikes)

Mine neither but a close cousin, 50c sealed rolls. But other than that who would ever believe that 50c NCLT would be sold in a hockey puck. I think most people would much prefer to buy a roll of 25c. If it does happen it's NCLT, it wouldn't be feasible to sell only one 25c at a time. Rolls would make more sense,
