Two 1943 50 cent with die breaks . One running from the three under nine to the shield . The other running from the rim under the three to the foot .

Hi CPC2013: Zoell catalogued the top coin above as FL444u and the bottom coin as FL444s. Nice examples of these varieties.

Thanks for sharing your excellent photos CPC2013! Both are great examples, and the second one I can't help think of the saying "way out on left field".

Here are my favourite 43 die cracks. Retained broken die actually. I have a 3rd one in an earlier state around too. I can only speculate that if I have 3 of these, there must be a lot of them around. Any one else have one of these (or more?)

Hi Robmck1967: Your coins pictured above started as two separate die cracks which eventually joined to become Zoell catalogued minor variety FL444e. Good examples of further deterioration of the cracks to illustrate why they are called Progressive Die failures as the repeated pounding of further coin production.causes the cracks to spread (ie Progress).
The Reverse of the coin is one of the 'widest dates' that you can find.
