I would be careful about this coin...a bunch of small details don't seem right here to me. But I'll defer to those who know this series. Compare the final curl of hair just above the clasp. And the surface looks modern, recently struck. Here's one grades MS64 by PCGS.

This coin is advertised as a AU58 but not sure I have ever seen a circulated coin with such luster and virgin lack of color ?

For this coin to have retained its fresh mint color after 177 years, it needed to be stored in a completely airtight, contaminant-free container. The technology to do this is only about 50 years old. Hmmm! I'm sure this one had a refreshing dip in a chemical bath to remove the tarnish and toning. Some say this is not cleaning. I say a 177 year-old coin shouldn't look like that.

What grade would you attach to this coin ? Does this coin look to be original or has it been cleaned in some way ? Need some more opinions.

I would agree with the AU 58 as I see no evidence of an abrasive cleaning. The coin will eventually retone, so if the price is right, go get 'em! Well on second thought ... I did a side-by-side comparison with a genuine example and I also now have doubts. Check the curl in the hair mentioned above and the '3' in the date. Looks close but I wouldn't pull the trigger myself.

Definitely not original, it has seen a long dip completely stripping it of any natural patina The problem with this coin is that you cannot compare the small details to another coin unless you know that the Overton numbers match. Without matching, your comparison is useless since there are so many differences between the die varieties. Bonedigger or someone else well versed in Busties could see if it matches any known Overton variety, if it does not- it is more than likely counterfeit.

Biokemist--good point! Without a reference, I was unsure of die pairs on this one, but still that finish is mighty peculiar.

I don't think it's real. I found no attribution in Overton. I don't like the shape of the 8 or the 3, and I don't like the location of the 8. I don't like the wide spacing of RIB in PLURIBUS. It has features I've found in a few varieties, but not in this combination.
I especially don't like the surfaces.
