All,
I have just completed my first proof case album.
It is the Proof Sets for the
State Quarters, 1999 to 2009.
I decided to go with using the "Eagle Coin Holders" album for storing and displaying the proof sets.
I am pretty happy the way they look in the album. It displays both the front and the back of the proof cases, and they are stored very securely on the pages, so they don't flop around.
I looked at other storage solutions, but Eagle Coin Holders was the only one I found that seemed to make special pages that exactly fit the proof cases.
The pages are all plastic pages with pre-molded spaces for 4 proof cases per page. There is a flexible "plastic strap" that you slide the proof cases under, and then they sort of "snap" into a pre-molded inserts. Once in there, they are retained pretty snugly.
On the inside cover of the binder, there is an "inventory sheet" that shows where to place all your proof albums. It's basic, but works well.
The binders are a nice brown and look pretty nice, but I was a bit disappointed that they don't have any sort of custom writing on the binder cover or spine. All they have is a cheap little label for the spine, and a blank space on the binder front where you can (perhaps) put your own label. I will probably make-up some sort of label to put on the front, but I think Eagle could have done something a bit nicer to make the albums look a bit "higher end". As they are, I would probably be better off just buying the proof pages separately and putting them into my own 3 ring binder.
I purchased their "Bookbound Binder" proof set album, which goes for about $32 dollars plus shipping.
No one seems to carry eagle - you must buy them direct.
http://www.eaglecoinholders.com/new...ducts_id=414I took a bunch of photos so you can see how the whole system works.
Overall, it is pretty functional, and I plan to do something similar for a
Presidential dollar Proof Set and maybe next Silver Proof sets.
Only thing is that I wished the covers had something nicer on them, but for the money, a pretty good deal.
Let me know what you think.
Regards,
Michael
