This must have got out of someone's collection or it was stolen and cashed in 1998 s proof Jefferson from a coin roll. It's a shame such a beautiful coin was circulated .   *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***Edited by Potbellypub

Either that, or a collector spent it on purpose. I will still spend most proofs I find, if they are not nicer than PF 64 or PF 65.

Nice find! I haven't found any proof common circulating coins, just some halves when I was CRHing those.

Congrats, Potbelly! Don't think I've found a nickel proof, a couple of beat up 90S's and a 72S Lincolns, plus a fair 1957 Wheat proof. no dimes or halves either, but haven't done that much CRHing on those.  |

It couldn't have been in circulation for very long. Most of the cameo is still there and it wears away pretty quickly. Nice find! |
