BigSilver Pillar of the Community United States 2843 Posts	Posted 03/08/2017 09:10 am Ok- you probably read about a 1972 doubled die cent. There are many varieties of doubled dies from that year. There is one "big" one. Those are very valuable, and uncommon to find. The pictured that you posted are impossible to decipher, please try to post clearer pics. Secondly, all 1983 cents are 2.5 grams. If you had a 1983 that was 3.1 grams, that would be special. In 1982 the mint switched from copper to zinc. 1982 exists in both compositions. 1983 and on should be zinc only and that weighs 2.5 grams.
