1999 Jefferson obverse I thought was a doubled die till I got a closer look . Not sure but I think all the doubling is die flow . Opinions please .

Gotta say MD, only because it's all over, both MM and letter/numbers. may be die wear also?

It does look like a VLDS but the doubling is from something else.

Die Deterioration Doubling will be towards the rim and this shows doubling in other directions.

It's at least MD, but I can't say if it's anything beyond that.

Looks like both to me. Late die state = flow lines in the fields. Based on your initial large obverse image, I thought it was MD on LIBERTY, the date, and the mint mark. The close ups are making it look weird.

Thanks crazybo spruette and druu the reason it looks weird in the close ups is because you can see it's not normal die flow here is the ER in liberty the flow is splotchy and thorny in spots and doubled in other spots and yet md in others .

I would need some images that show more devices per image. More in the '5' device area. It maybe that what were are seeing as moving towards the center of the coin, is really just the opposite, the devices moving more towards the rim on the tops of the devices. I need to see more of the devices so I can compare with a normal image to see what is going on. Nothing is listed for this year on the sites, so I'm assuming that is what were are seeing. But a wider shot of the devices would be the first step to see what is going on.

I would like them with 1. Date Mint mark area. 'LIBER' and 'BERTY' ON LIBERTY. that way I can make side by sides to see what is going on with a normal coin. Also 2. IN GOD and WE TRU and TRUST. That way I can figure out what is going on with the die or strike.

Those are great pictures--very interesting to see extreme die wear at that magnification.

Sever die breakdown. No machine damage. Not a doubled die. A coin from a die that should have retired sooner.

Thanks coop. Looks like it should have been retired in January instead of December lol. It's very nice to have my coins in your images! I would rather have my coins in coops images than wexlers.

While it is the same issue, I feel it is not from the same die. Look at the 'G' on GOD. If it were an earlier die state example, why is that letter even more loosing the design more than your first coin. So they are not from the same dies.
