I found an auction that I will bid on and hope to win. It's a really nice 1854 Seated quarter, but it has a big old yucky tape line right over liberty. I imagine that acetone would help, but should I do it on such an old coin?

acetone will remove the tape residue, but you will be left usually with a brighter area where the tape was. it will still look like tape was there because of the uneven toning that will be left after treatment
