Hello everyone. I picked up this CWT yesterday and I'm having trouble attributing it. The token book I have does not go into enough depth to properly ID it. The dealer who I bought it from and myself quickly ID'd it from a CWT book but now that I have it home and am studying it closer I'm seeing something different. We had attributed it as F-205/410c. Let me know what you experts think. Thank you in advance for any help.

This "Dix token" is a "patriotic" Civil War token. In this context, patriotic really means generic, distinguishing it from Civil War tokens that name specific businesses, which are typically called "store cards". Here's what https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_War_token says about Dix tokens:

Among the best-known varieties of patriotic tokens are the so-called "Dix tokens." They are named for John Adams Dix, who served as Secretary of the Treasury in 1861. In a letter from Dix to a revenue cutter captain, Lieutenant Caldwell, he orders Caldwell to relieve another cutter captain of his command for refusing an order to transfer from New Orleans to New York City. The letter ends with the following sentence: "If any one attempts to haul down the American flag, shoot him on the spot." The quote found its way to a number of patriotic tokens, albeit with a slightly modified wording ("haul down" is usually replaced by "tear it down").

Rogerramjet- thanks for the info. I should've specified I'm looking for the catalogue numbers that tell which variety the obverse and reverse dies are. I was aware it's a patriotic token and what kind though.

Fuzzy317- thank you. I'll give it a look.
