I'm submitting some early Lincoln wheat proofs for grading by PCGS. I've never sent them anything before so I'm wordering if I labeled these 2.5x2.5s (stupid size) the way I'm supposed to. I've got the submission sheet number, my number, and the number of the coin corresponding to line number on sheet. Does that sound right to y'all?

That's how I do it and have never had any problems. I also put proof and UNC coins in a smaller bag so they don't slide around in the holder. That 39' looks real nice!

I can't stand the thought of that 1939 proof cent sliding around in that huge flip.

put them in cardboard 2x2, maybe just taped shut, then put that in the 2.5x2.5 flip.

The flip isn't going to hurt the coin in the couple days it takes to get there. 2x2s will get a submission rejected. They specifically state not to use those. You can also use the cardboard mailers around the coins if you're overly worried but if you packaged them well it will be fine.

And I think there is also something about using tape? One time, I submitted all of my coins to ANACS in US mint capsules, and it went just fine, so that's an idea.

Quote: 2x2s will get a submission rejected. I have sent hundreds of coins to PCGS in 2x2 saflips, I also put the flips in 20 coin album pages then fold them up to make absolutely sure that the coins stay put during shipment

The cardboard 2x2s that were mentioned. Saflips are always fine in any size just don't shove coins in at their max size. They prefer the 2.5 x2.5 cus anything comes out easy for that.

All great suggestions, thanks. They don't move much in those larger saflips. I'm going to send them as directed. I'll let you know how they come back.

Take your whole group and put a rubber band around the whole stack, that keeps the coins from sliding around in those PT flips.

The 2.5" flips are specified to help prevent damage when the coins are removed for grading. It's obviously very important when dealing with silver dollar sized coins. But it helps with the smaller coins.
