hello, ..found these two nickels 1955, 2004 in a roll, wanted to check if they were improperly annealed errors or damage....they look copper & rims with touches of nickel ..had to shrink some photos to fit, 3rd nickel for reference....thanks for your opinions in advance ....

Look more like ED to me. Both 1955 & 2004 are actually a little different materials...2004 has more copper in it, affected that way. The 1955 because has nickel/copper/tin may just react that way. Annealing tends to make coin black allover sometimes evenly.

I definitely don't see an annealing error, but you might be able to convince me that the 1955 has a lamination flaw. I agree with Crazy that there's some environmental staining on both coins though. Maybe soak the 1955 in acetone and grab another picture. It could be lamination, or just staining in a pattern consistent with lamination.

Both coins look like they suffered from environmental damage. The 1955 may have been in a fire or in extra acidic soil. There is a spot on Jefferson's nose that looks like heat or acid damage. Also, on that coin, it looks like the chin got damaged badly post mint.

The examples of improperly annealed coins shown here http://www.error-ref.com/?s=imprope...043;annealed show the surface of the coin is more uniform -- that is until they start to look like lamination errors.

Both of your coins look too spotty for me to think they were errors -- most likely they were left outdoors.
